Apple and strawberry crisp with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream for the perfect bite!
- about 5 medium gala apples (or your favorite) sliced (3 cups)
- 1 cup sliced organic strawberries
- 1/8 cup vanilla sugar or regular sugar
- 1
- cup packed brown sugar
- 3/4
- cup Gold Medal® all-purpose flour
- 1
- cup quick-cooking or old-fashioned oats
- 1/2
- cup organic butter (1 stick) , softened
- 1
- teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1
- teaspoon ground nutmeg
- Mix together apples strawberries and vanilla sugar
- 1 Heat oven to 375ºF. Grease bottom and sides of 9×6 inch square pan with butter.
- In medium bowl, stir remaining ingredients until well mixed; press half the mixture into the bottom of the greased pan to make a bottom “crust”
- fill with apples/strawberries
- sprinkle the remaining oatmeal mixture on the top
- 3 Bake about 40 minutes or until topping is golden brown and apples/strawberries are tender when pierced with a fork. Serve warm with whipped cream and ice cream. (I make homemade organic vanilla bean ice cream and organic whipped cream.)
