Apple and strawberry crisp with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream for the perfect bite!

 

about 5 medium gala apples (or your favorite) sliced (3 cups)
1 cup sliced organic strawberries
1/8 cup vanilla sugar or regular sugar

cup packed brown sugar
3/4
cup Gold Medal® all-purpose flour
1
cup quick-cooking or old-fashioned oats
1/2 
cup organic butter (1 stick) , softened
1
teaspoon ground cinnamon
1
teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Mix together apples strawberries and vanilla sugar
  • Heat oven to 375ºF. Grease bottom and sides of 9×6 inch square pan with butter.
  •  In medium bowl, stir remaining ingredients  until well mixed; press half the mixture into the bottom of the greased pan to make a bottom “crust”
  • fill with apples/strawberries
  • sprinkle the remaining oatmeal mixture on the top
  • Bake about 40 minutes or until topping is golden brown and apples/strawberries are tender when pierced with a fork. Serve warm with whipped cream and ice cream.  (I make homemade organic vanilla bean ice cream and organic whipped cream.)
