The very best frosting I have ever made!!!
1 cup milk
5 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
Combine the milk and flour in a saucepan and cook over low heat until thick, whisking constantly. Cover and refrigerate until chilled.5In a medium bowl, beat butter, shortening, sugar and vanilla until creamy. Add chilled milk and flour mixture and beat for 10 minutes.
Use as is white or try adding natural color.
I used blueberry, strawberry, and pomegranate juice for colors and a light flavor on my daughter’s birthday cake. You can also buy packaged natural food color @ whole foods.
