Light oat bread with honey glaze
Recipe yields 2 loaves
1package (7oz) yeast
2 1/2 cups warm water
1/4 cup brown sugar or honey
1/4 cup warm butter
4 1/2 cups white flour
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup quick cooking oats
2 teaspoons sea salt
Topping/glaze
4 tablespoons honey
1/4 cup quick cooking oats
Mix dry ingredients in large bowl set aside
Mix yeast water and sugar or honey and let set about 10 minutes or until foaming
Mix yeast mixture with dry ingredients and knead for 15 minutes on floured surface, adding a touch more flour if dough is too sticky. Let rise 1 1/2 hours punch down form four even balls place 2 balls in greased bread pan bake 350 degrees for 35 minutes
Remove from oven and brush with honey and add a sprinkle of oats… This last stepped can be skipped.
